Is a tie good enough?
The chatter from the paid pundits and the bloggers is that last night's debate, nee town hall meeting, was a tie. The predominate feeling is that there were no major gaffes by either candidate, but nor were there any earth shattering breakthroughs. Pollsters claim Obama has a statistically significant lead, and that he is preferred by the majority of voters as the better handler of the economy.
The Clarion has been predicting a McCain victory in the general election for many months. However, as the economy gets further and further off the rails, we're wondering if the equation has changed.
In the context of such disarray, how can a presidential candidate from the incumbent party possibly win?
On the other hand, the more the world is perceived as in crisis, is it harder to believe that the American public will vote for a relatively inexperienced, relatively young, black man?
